We all get Junkyard Wise, sooner or later. We all start out fresh off the assembly line, full of promise, potential, and miles yet to drive. Even as we start down our roads, we see the wrecks along the shoulder but can't see how they relate to us. After a while, we stop feeling so shiny and new and start thinking about where this is all going. We realize that newness will never come again and we just hope to not end up in the ditch. Sooner or later, though, we learn that the ditch is coming, no matter what we do, and we feel in our bones the cold fact that we are all destined for the crusher. Junkyard Wise. There is life beyond this point, but it is different than the life that came before it. When you feel like this years' model, time seems less important because there is so much ahead of you. Once you end up on the used car lot, you can feel that the 'yard is getting closer, breathing on you. You realize that every mile you have left inside you means something. You realize what the road means and you want to keep driving. The crusher is coming, but it's not here yet. Junkyard Wise.
