KATRINA STUART

“Blue Roses”

Single review by Mike O’Cull www.mikeocull.com

Katrina Stuart digs deep into the pop music goldmine with her recently released single “Blue Roses.” Stuart is a Canadian vocalist, actor, dancer, and model now working out of Los Angeles who dropped the track in September of 2019. She recorded the song with a high-powered team behind her that included Grammy-nominated producer Trevor Muzzy (Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Jason Derulo, Pitbull, Nicki Minaj) and Swedish songwriter Aleena Gibson (Jason Derulo, Mr. Big, Nick Carter, S Club 7). This proved to be a boss move, as the song has “major hit” written all over it and is quickly becoming popular with Stuart’s legion of fans.

“Blue Roses” is a melodic mid-tempo radio pop cut about loving a less-than-honest person who tries to make up for their misdeeds with flowers and other insignificant gifts. “So you just want to fix my broken heart with blue roses but you let me down,” Stuart sings with a sense of resigned frustration that many people will be able to relate to. She has a clear, toneful vocal sound and a to-the-point style that allows the deeper emotions of the song to fully experienced.

Stuart has the talent, looks, and large social media following needed to blow this track up around the world. Her delivery, lyrics, and production are on point and “Blue Roses” is as good as any chart-topping single of the last ten years. Pop fans will find much to enjoy here and are advised to take a deep dive into Stuart’s previous releases, too, as much great music awaits.
