WASABI FIRE ALARM - “Two Fingers In A ‘V’” REVIEW - FUNKY SURREALIST ROCK!

WASABI FIRE ALARM
“Two Fingers In A ‘V’”

Review by Mike O’Cull, independent music journalist. www.mikeocull.com

If moody, funky, Surrealist rock music is your thing, look no further than Wasabi Fire Alarm. The band is from York, UK and has a new video single called “Two Fingers In A ‘V’” that keeps getting better the more you listen to it. Wasabi Fire Alarm exists in an experimental artistic world of its own creation and it can take new fans a few spins to get their heads right with it. Imagine Beefheart, Deftones, and Portishead in the studio together and you’ll start to get it.

The band is vocalist Sue Egypt, guitarist/keyboardist/ producer Neil (The Offender), bassist Al, and drummer Mike. They make cool left-of-center sounds as a unit and this track certainly does whet the appetite for a taste of what else might be on the upcoming mini-album release mentioned on their website. The video is black and white, captivating, and contributes to the experimental/surreal feel of the song. It’s very creative and very well done. Sue Egypt is a compelling presence on the microphone and in front of the camera and will pull you into her vibe and keep you there. Fine work, this one.
