Washington DC’s Lil Dream is a skilled hip hop artist and producer who is primed and ready to make a big splash in the music industry. His latest release is the EP 86 Nights, a brief-but-compelling set of music that Lil Dream created, recorded, and produced on his own that demonstrates the length and breadth of his talent and vision. The five tracks on the record operate at a high creative level and deliver the kind of beats and flows needed to become known in today’s ultra-competitive rap scene.

“Wipeout” is wide open, stony, and spacious and makes an outstanding first track for this session. Featuring a guest appearance by dopeSMOOTHIES, it instantly makes listeners part of Lil Dream’s world. The ride continues on “Benz Truck,” a low-down slow jam topped off with lyrics that give us a glimpse inside Dream’s mind. “Trust” is more aggressive but maintains the atmospheric vibe Lil Dream’s sound is built around. “C.D.G.” and “Blow Ya Day” are also worth bumping and will leave you wishing this was a full-length album. Lil Dream clearly has the talent and attitude of a rising star and hip hop heads looking for deep, new sounds will find much to love about 86 Nights. Don’t let this one slip by you.
