KEMPER GRANT “JUNGLE” ALBUM REVIEW - VISIONARY SOUL!

KEMPER GRANT

Jungle

By Mike O’Cull www.mikeocull.com

Kemper Grant comes at the rap game straight out of Oklahoma on his debut release Jungle. Grant is a multi-dimensional artist with an immediately obvious lyrical talent and a style that encompasses everything from smooth modern hip hop to vintage 1980s disco. Jungle displays Grant’s winning combination of 21st Century skills and the musical passion of the Old Masters, a team-up that puts him light years ahead of most of his peers. Mostly self-produced, Jungle positions Grant as a new visionary voice in the world of rap/soul/R&B music with a bright future just over the horizon.

Jungle opens with the chilled-out funk of “All Day All Night,” a vibe-driven track with a spacious beat and a featured appearance by Young Polo. It’s mellow but motivating and sounds the way a perfect summer night feels. “Blind” is another rap/soul hybrid that brings us Grant making magic with guest vocalist Emily Auer. The song is a hit waiting to happen and has to be heard by everyone who loves the smooth stuff. “Electra” drives harder and introduces a more overt EDM production style to this set. “Round-A-Bout” is a sweet piece of neo-soul that lets Grant move in yet another creative direction. Jungle is right on target from beginning to end and will help Kemper Grant quickly make a name for himself. If I were you, I’d get in on this one.
