(Jamey Ray Music)

Florida’s a cappella 11-member mega-group Voctave deliver another sweet and lowdown serving of show tunes and Disney music on their new release The Corner of Broadway & Main Street Vol. 2. Vocalists Kate Lott, Tiffany Coburn, Ashley Espinoza, Sarah Whittemore, Chrystal Johnson, EJ Cardona, Drew Ochoa, Jamey Ray, Kurt von Schmittou, Aaron Stratton, and Karl Hudson have been making joyful noises since 2015 and put forth a powerfully human sound that’s uplifting and inspiring. Their gorgeous and complex 11-part arrangements of these familiar songs give them new life and make them feel fresh all over again. All involved come from diverse backgrounds in musical theater, contemporary Christian music, barbershop, pop, and choral music and use these influences to make their vocals-only approach compelling and appealing.

Voctave includes multiple Disney medleys on this new set and each one will make fans of the big D sit up and take notice. The “Disney Parks Medley” and the “Disney Heroes and Villains Medley” are tons of fun and extremely well-executed. The group’s 11 voices create a lush carpet of harmony that will fill your headphones and make you happy. Their takes on stage standards including “Tomorrow” and “The Trolley Song” revitalize these often-heard tunes and show the group’s high levels of skill and vision. Fans of the a cappella genre should prepare to fall in love with Voctave and to give The Corner of Broadway & Main Street Vol. 2 some serious listening time.
