Single review by Mike O’Cull www.mikeocull.com

New York-based singer-songwriter Kathy Ingraham digs deep and swings a velvet hammer on her new single “Cherish.” Released in 2019, the track is a stunning example of Ingraham’s multifaceted style that intuitively blends pop, jazz, and rock influences into her own genre of late night soul noir. Her voice is a sultry, evocative instrument that quickly attracts listener attention and becomes an addiction. “Cherish” also features a band of big kids behind Ingraham’s glorious voice that includes guitarist Elliott Randall (Steely Dan), drummer Joel Rosenblatt (Spyro Gyra), and jazz keyboard icon Pete Levin. The end result of all this tasteful dynamite is an emotive song of love and longing with the power to stop time.

Kathy has officially been an independent recording artist since 2014 and has already created a substantial body of work that includes both singles and solo projects. She even landed a song in the Johnny Depp film The Professor. The world is clearly waking up to her talent and it will be worth it to stick around and see what she does next. “Cherish” makes a fine introduction to her work for new fans and should open a lot of new doors in her career. Kathy Ingraham is a real-deal, significant talent who seems ready to ascend to her proper place in the global musical firmament. Spin “Cherish” and hear her for yourself. You can thank me later.
