Jared Dylan is a rapidly-rising pop vocalist and songwriter from New Jersey with a strong new single called “Keep Me on the Edge.” The track dropped May 1st, 2020 and is available on all streaming platforms as we speak. It’s a brooding, minor key rumination from someone who is knee deep in a complex and difficult relationship. One minute Dylan is at his rope’s end asking “Everywhere we go, do you have to start a scene? You take it way too far and with no apologies” and the next he’s deep in love and defending her saying “Leave my baby alone. She treats me right, she turns me on.”
Dylan is an excellent singer and delivers a fine, nuanced performance on “Keep Me on the Edge.” His tone is clear and smooth and he is able to tap directly into the emotional core of his lyrics. Savvy pop fans will recognize him from Season Three of The Voice and Radio Disney. He’s written hit songs with James Walsh (Starsailor) and for several K-Pop and J-Pop groups. Not surprisingly, Dylan has already generated millions of streams on the platforms with his on-target pop instincts and big vocal chops. He tracked his debut EP In Panic with producer Anthony Resta (Elton John, Collective Soul, Duran Duran) and established his blend of Brit-Pop, 80s-inspired vocals, and string-enhanced ballads.
“Keep Me on the Edge” is a highly-dynamic track that ebbs and flows from a near-whisper to a driving, drum-heavy beat and back again. The production is crisp and uncluttered, doing just enough to support Dylan’s voice without ever getting in the way of his words. This is big-league pop from an artist who clearly knows what it takes to reach the top. Jared Dylan is absolutely bound for bigger and bigger things. He packs a lot of heat as a performer and as a writer and is certain to go large if he continues to deliver amazing tracks like this one. Highly recommended.
