“HEAD FAKE VS DUB FU MASTERS“ EP REVIEW - VINTAGE HOUSE/DANCE!

HEAD FAKE

Head Fake vs Dub Fu Masters

Partially anonymous artist/producer trio Head Fake and collaborators Dub Fu Masters have a slamming new release, Head Fake vs Dub Fu Masters, that reworks some of Head Fake’s previous tracks into club-style versions that recreate the jam-packed nightclub atmosphere that’s been lost to the COVID-19 pandemic. Head Fake’s sound and vibe are rooted in a retro 80s sensibility which they nail dead on and makes music that would have been multi-platinum hits back in that period. The tracks on Head Fake vs Dub Fu Masters are upbeat, slightly moody, and deeply affecting, making those who were there the first time long for those lost days and nights and making younger fans wish they could have been involved.

The cuts on Head Fake vs Dub Fu Masters are brilliant, body-rocking house jams that stimulate both body and mind. “One Step” opens the set in a results-oriented minimalist style that’s hypnotic and stimulating. The artistic mode created by HF and DFM working in concert with each other is brilliant and makes all the tracks here into pure magic. “Trump Funk” is a major achievement and is guaranteed to set any dance floor on fire. “Overjoyed” creates a somber mood with a big beat and fat vintage synth tones that are epic and unforgettable. Head Fake has a big-time winner in this new one and fans of vintage dance sounds are going to love it.
