North Carolina hip hop artist GMB GunnaMan extends his body of work with a new EP, 222, that builds well upon the creative and professional success of his previous releases. 222 is eight songs in length, almost a full album, and presents GMB GunnaMan as a hard lyrical rapper with unique bars and a confident, in-the-pocket style. He delivers moody, emotive flows over cinematic beats that carry his lines deep into the consciousness of anyone listening. “Gamble” is the opening cut and beautifully sets the tone for everything that follows. “Anything that I want, I can get it” he spits, clearly stating the obvious. He’s also strong enough to express love along with street knowledge and his track “Alicia Franklin” demonstrates how he does it.

“Dirt” features GMB GunnaMan getting down over a neo-soul-influenced beat that’s cool and mellow. His lyrics still display his unflinching sense of reality, so be sure not to let the smooth flavor fool you. Other standout tracks include “Which Piece” and “Inner G.” GMB GunnaMan is a mighty new presence on the US rap scene and is definitely playing to win. Heads old and new are going to like 222 a lot.
