Catherine Corona, a.k.a. Ramalla, is a songwriter, author, meditation practitioner, and filmmaker working in Boulder, Colorado who has recently released her debut album of New Age/World Music The Voice of the Stillness. The pieces on the record were initially composed when Catherine was enduring extensive cancer treatment and became aware of the inner melodies her soul was singing on her daily walks in the Colorado countryside. After a while, she began to record them into her phone and then started to write lyrics for them. The end result is a breathtaking mostly-acoustic record that takes a meditative tone, crosses cultural lines, and shows Catherine to be a deeply intuitive musician, vocalist, and composer.

Corona opens with her title song, “The Voice of the Stillness,” which is a gentle, ethereal track with a traditional Irish influence to it. Synth pads enter as the song evolves then dissolves back into nothingness as Catherine’s voice floats above it all. “Amen” is a hypnotic Christian chant that expresses her great inner love and envelopes listeners like an old friend. “Om Shanti Om” and “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” incorporate different levels of Indian music in their presentations and come across as genuine and true. Other important pieces here include “I Am Free” and “Open My Eyes.” Catherine Corona is an old soul with a talent for writing music that speaks directly to the divine in all of us. Those seeking a peaceful new headspace will find it here.
