Nebraska’s own BODA continues his climb to the top of the rap game with a new single and music video called “California.” It’s a laidback track full of subtle emotion about a girl with a frozen heart who keeps going through life’s motions instead of switching up and going west to a place that would melt the ice in her soul. BODA is a rising star in hip hop and he’s steadily rocking more-than-respectable numbers on all major streaming platforms. His flow is low-key but confident and he fearlessly reveals his authentic thoughts in his rhymes rather than indulging in the braggadocio so common in urban music styles.
The video was directed by SMPLCARL and is visually and conceptually impressive. It depicts BODA and the girl in question living the West Coast lifestyle that so many of us dream about. The color palette is stunning and its vibrancy adds much to the visual narrative of the clip. The video displays confidence as well as a wistful longing to share the California dream. It’s a full-scale pro effort that does a lot to enhance an already-strong song. This is fine work from an emerging artist who is clearly destined for much bigger things. BODA is on his way and listeners everywhere are going to want to go with him.
